"I am not so much of a fan of minecraft, but the sets that came out for it looked interesting so I decided to buy one. I decided to buy this one because all the other ones look boring. When buying the set I thought the box would have a "treasure chest' effect, instead of a normal box. At first I was pleased by this set but as I built the seven other models I realized this was boring and repetitive. Also using two instruction booklets at once is irritating. I'd rather have only two models that have interesting rebuilds of houses and stuff. I wish they had instructions for the inspiration models in the booklet. They actually look cool and have interesting design. I thought I heard that instructions for these models were on Lego.com but I couldn't find them. One last complaint of mine is that this set only has simple pieces and accessories to decorate the builds.
Pros
Eight builds......
Cons
.....that are boring and repetitive Only simple pieces Not enough lava pieces
This is not a set I would recommend, however, if you really wanted a minecraft set this would be the best option. Overall, the minecraft series isn't a series I recommend. It's filled with boring layouts and repeating structures."
"The crafting box set is a set for people who just like to build, and not for people who want to play. The reason to buy this set would be for the exclusive figure (mushroom cow), and the unique build (mushroom island). The set doesn't offer any play value, but has very large, and open builds that make this set a good price, and value for money. 7/10."
I would recommend this to a friend!

"I've no idea why this set did not get much attention or love across most of the other websites, lego forums or reviewers. Most of the downgrade mentioned was: few playability (i.e., brick-shooting and brick-pushing), lesser-attractive selection of set-unique pieces, the selection of mini figures, or how badly the instructions were designed——as for me, these aren't a big issue at all.
I still remember the time when almost every lego set had an 'alternative' build printed at the back of the packaging boxes showing you how this set can be dissembled and transformed into something cool, and you have to figure it out all buy your self, stop following the instructions, dissemble everything and build your own creations. And there was a time when lego sets itself did not have any brick-shooting techniques and it was still tempting. I know the time has changed and lego are moving into a new era, and I understand playability are now an important part, and I do believe they are extremely cool even for an adult (Trust me, I've seen SO many adults stepping in front of legos and attracted by all these interesting block-pushing designs).
But however, just because legos are fun today does not mean we have to follow the instruction, and never break a completed set into pieces and start our own creations. And the most attractive thing in this set was, there was no need to follow the instructions to make a beautiful imageable world (as I've always found the design for most of the other lego sets were so sophisticated that I could barely MOC something similar). I am not an expert MOCer, however I found this set is extremely addictive in terms of repetitive builds. You got basically everything you need to create your own minecraft world, and the number of pieces was just at the edge between 'extremely enjoyable assembling' and 'there are just way too much pieces to do and I'm totally bored'. The average time for assemble all the pieces into a displayable minecraft biome was around one hour and a half, to up to 2 hours, just image how wonderful it is to sit quietly and playing like we all used to! What happened to the creative child who never know there is an instruction but still enjoys randomly playing ?
The other main point is, it is minecraft-themed. Minecraft is a game that (mostly) focusing on creating something new, so does this set. I do appreciate how beautifully lego and minecraft combined together here, just like the first CUUSOO minecraft micro world.
If you are looking for some satisfying playability, I do recommend you to try the new NEXO Knight, they are awesome, but if you want a started set to repetitively playing with but do not have much time or do not want to stick on one thing for way to long, then this set is your dreaming fantasy. Stop everything you are doing, just BUY IT NOW."
"My mom got me this set last month in February for my 16th birthday. I spent endless hours playing with this set and building my own creations. It really inspired me to make my own creations. And so I did. And I also love the little poster that comes with it as well. LEGO Minecraft needs to post more videos about things you can do with the Crafting Box. I check daily to see if there are new videos posted. Thank You LEGO. You have done it again!"
