"When I saw this set in the magazine I knew I needed to get it. I'm a big aviation fan and their interpretation of the Joint Strike Fighter is pretty rad. My son loves Lego as well, but was not even 4 at the time we built this but really got into building this with me. I let him take on the bigger pieces while he watched me with the smaller ones. We worked on it a little every night and it took about two weeks (Probably a 2-3 hour build straight through). We've had it displayed on our Lego shelf since building the jet and play with it often. It's very well built and very sturdy, really fun to fly around the house with. The instruction booklet in itself is impressive, more of a book than any other one I've seen. I keep telling him we need to take it apart at some point and build the other sets (helicopter and boat), but we still enjoy playing with the jet so we haven't made that jump yet. Whether you play with your sets or set them up to display, this is a must have; Fun and great to look at!"

"Great set. A dark blue studded 1x4 tile in the back fins in front of the engine was missing so I went on pick-a-brick and ordered that and "accidently" ordered the Lego Ideas Wall-E."

"This set is an excellent representation of a modern fighter jet created with legos. I was very satisfied with the overall eye appeal of this model upon completion and my two young children love working the landing gear, engine hatch, flaps, and cockpit. I thought this model was a near perfect blend of playability for youngsters and looks/detail for older builders. I really hope lego will continue to make these kind of cross-generational sets and I really hope they continue the trend of using military-style airplanes for their aviation-oriented creator sets.
Pros: great color scheme, superb cockpit detail, excellent overall detail
Cons; Thought landing gear construction was a little weak, no pilots (great play feature for kids), no missiles or any other ordnance (also a great play feature for kids), and I felt that in some places they used multiple smaller pieces where one larger one would have been sufficient perhaps to increase the overall piece count.
In conclusion, I think this is overall one of the better lego models I've had the pleasure of constructing and I think lego is definitely barking up the right tree with these type of models geared towards a slightly older crowd. Buy it; you'll like it!"

"Its a good set in total but it doesn't come with pilots, which i didn't really care about because i had the perfect two mini figures until my dog ate one. The main problem is that the pieces that are dark shade of blue are not the same color they are slightly different (ones darker) So i would recommend this to anyone who is OCD when it comes to legos. I fixed it the by making the 2x2 curved pieces along the middle a nice checker board pattern."
