" I'm an adult builder who has been looking for a set like this her entire life. In fact, I love the functional pieces, colors, designs, and characters of all the elves sets. The portal was fun to make. It's challenging without being too hard, and it's fun to play with and beautiful to display! "

" This is a fun set to build. It has several moving/working features and is designed very well. This whole series is a blast to build and from the hours they spend playing with these sets proves to be a big hit with the kids. "

" My son (six, but well versed in Lego building) built this set a few months ago and it continues to have long term play value. The build was straightforward but interesting. The play features such as the collapsible bridge and the chain bucket are fun without being fiddly.
The best thing about this set is its capacity for long-term cooperative play. While we have been pretty deep in the Chima world I've never much cared for the amount of weapons or the oddly male dominant universe. Since the Elves elements (fire, air, earth, water) tie well into parts of Chima the Elves have had a positive effect on our play. For example, my son has built additional buildings and vehicles for the Chima phoenixes who are of course friends with Azari.
If you have a kid who is into magic and fantasy play don't hesitate on the Elves sets! The strongest recommendation is from my son, who decided to spend his saved allowance recently on another Elves set (the bakery, also great!).
I really hope Lego adds to the Elves collection. It has a lot of promise but I worry it's pigeonholed as a "girls" set and won't sell as well. "

" So glad Lego came out with the new Elves sets. My 7yr old got this for her birthday and couldn't wait to start building. She has several of the Friends sets, but the Elves have some really great secrets and moving pieces. She didn't want to stop building. I like that the Elves sets are not as "pre-built" as some of the Friends or Disney sets. The tree top hide-away is awesome and I can see her playing with this long after she's done building it. I can't say the same for her other sets.
I hope Lego will come out with more offerings in the Elves line. A little disappointed that she has already gotten the biggest set. Was looking for something in the same range as this one. "
