" Contrary to what many others think, I believe Pohatu has improved from his previous incarnation. To start off, he received a massive increase for parts count (66 to 90). This makes him the largest small Toa (Gali has 87 and Lewa has 79). Along with his parts counts going up, he also has a bigger stature, thus he isn't the shortest anymore. This makes him seem much more comparable to the other Toa. His mask is very reminiscent of his 2015 version, thus you can tell this is Pohatu. The blue brain stalk doesn't stand out too much, but I felt they should've made a trans-neon yellowish green one. His body is fine, and his entire design seems perfect. The way they attached the Skrall Armor is excellent, and it differs him from the other Toa. His leg design is good, and the crystal add-on pieces help define Pohatu's element. Out of the many positives Pohatu has, he has two flaws (one being severe). His weapon is very basic, being a Crystal Flail (the sword) and a Stone Crush Flail (the rock). The rock also helps people identify Pohatu for being the Uniter of Stone (it also traces us back to 2001, when he had the rock as an accessory), but it is very basic. It is basically a sword with a rock at the end of it. It doesn't look bad, but I find it too simple. He should have gotten a unique design with the sword (ex. Tahu's functions or Kopaka's hilt), but like Gali, it is just a plain sword with no function. I don't mind it, but it should have a more complex design. The glaring flaw with this Pohatu is his color scheme. His primary color, orange-ish brown, is only represented through his mask, and Glatorian Ball Connectors in his arm. Only three pieces in his primary color, how sad. His color scheme doesn't look disastrous, but the lack of orange-ish brown is very distracting for me. I know Lego could have used some armor pieces that they do have, from 2015, or make some new Hero Factory feet in this color. That would've given a small remedy to the problem, however, no. Overall, the set definitely isn't bad, as some suggest, but it definitely isn't one of the best.. I had a tough choice picking between 3 or 4 stars, but I think it is still a decent set. I'm slightly iffy if I would recommend this set to a friend, but I chose yes. I think it's still a decent set, but there are just some flaws that are rather severe that brought this set down. There were many things that could have been easy fixes, but we didn't get any. The tan is fine, and it looks alright, it's just him lacking his primary color. I'm fairly satisfied, and he definitely has some good positives, so I will give him a recommendation to a friend. "

" I was quite sceptical about this set when I first saw it, but over time it grew on me and upon buying and building it, I think this is my favourite of the 2016 small Toa.
The build is relatively standard. The torso is a nice change from the regular, single skeleton piece we normally see and allows for more customization between each Toa, however this piece is used in all the Toa sets and Umarak, so is not something unique to Pohatu. What is unique to him are his upper arms. Consisting of 8 pieces each, Pohatu's upper arms are custom built (as is clear to see) and look really good, along with allowing a much wider range of articulation, despite him wielding a two-handed weapon.
Pohatu's only functions are the same as those shared between all the 2016 Toa: the waist swivel function and mask pop-off function. However, with the waist function you can make him turn fast enough to swing the boulder/kohlii ball on the end of his staff. The inclusion of this boulder is a nice call back to Pohatu's first incarnation and I really like its inclusion, as the uniqueness of Pohatu Mata having a boulder that he kicked made him my favourite Toa Mata and is the reason that I still intend to buy him someday.
The unity mode with Ketar looks very cluttered in many people's opinions, though I actually think it looks alright if you position Ketar's limbs in a certain way (which I go into more in my review of Ketar).
The one thing that bugs me with Pohatu is his colour scheme, it just has too many colours (about 7 main ones). While it doesn't look as bad in hand and I do partially like it, I know some people may dislike it.
I would recommend you buy this set if you want to get one of the small Toa. If you can afford it I would also recommend you get Ketar, so that you can make the unity form, but if not then Pohatu looks fine by himself. "

" I got Pohatu with a handful of other toa from toys r' us.
Pohatu is interesting to say the least. I'll start with the positives, Pohatu's mask looks great, it's one of the best masks of this wave. Pohatu's weapon is also interesting, as it has the old ball piece from his 2001 set recolored, the ball swing when the action feature is used, which is oddly amusing. Also the gear function works wonderfully with enough friction to hold it in place. The pose options of Pohatu are also amazing, due to the amount of articulation in his arms, shoulders, and legs, he can pull off some amazing poses. The cons of Pohatu are mainly his color scheme and his somewhat odd build. The color scheme of tan, burnt orange, brown, and neon green is really overwhelming, it almost feels like it all just kinda got thrown together without rhyme or reason. Also the build, while very poseable, is somewhat awkward in places, specifically his arms, they are attached to his shoulders oddly, however build aside this isn't a huge problem.
Pohatu isn't the worst set, and I can say I do recommend him, but get him last, as he's not an amazing set either. "

" The set itself was an ok set. the colour scheme is all over the place and isnt consistent, and this set doesnt fit pohatu's character. the united form is all over the place and doesnt look very united, just a guy getting attacked by a scorpion from behind. its a decent set its just so simplistic and a little odd. the custom build is very nice and its fun to build, its just a very fast and simple build. pohatu 2015 was much better. the spear has a rock keychain thing that just gets in the way and its hard to get him in a good pose. i may have pashed the set but i like it, its just a quick build and i dont get much out of it. i must praise lego for including a waist gear function that doesnt make the top half of the body flop around wherever it feels like it which makes this set more easy for posing. this nuva form of pohatu is much better than his nuva form from 2002, im curious to see how the 2016 story will play out. The united form looks much better with the brown mask rather than the gold one, the gold one seems very out of place with the silver creature head on top of it. "
