"The MX-81 H.O.A is, so far, one of the best Mars Mission sets I've bought. The play features are okay. The minifigures are cool, but the alien commander is the figure I'm crazy for.

"I got this set on sale at only US$48. This made it impossible to resist.
It's big and has many good features like the swing down buggy platform and the crystal lab hidden between the cockpits. The orange and White color scheme looks brilliant as well. The alien fighter is a good addition as well."

"This is one of the best sets that I ever got. The landing pad mechanism worked better than I expected, and although there is an alarming snap when I open or close it, I checked inside and nothing was wrong. The ship itself has a complex design, and when I was done building it, I wondered where in the building process it vaguely resembled this! I overall liked the set and thought it was a great buy.
The mining vehicle is standard, nothing fancy, but I think a complex design would draw attention away from the ship. The alien ship included the alien commander and had "fold up" build, as I call it, which refers to how the wings are placed. It's pretty sturdy and I think there was a great job on the design.

"I have been very impressed with the designs of ALL the Mars Mission sets, but this one in particular is stunning. The human ship is a work of art, and very fun to assemble.
I have really enjoyed that most of the large ships in this theme have smaller ships built into them - that really adds to the playability of the sets.
The alien ship, though small, is solidly designed and doesn't look like an afterthought.
A very solid set, and a great purchase!"

"Well I have to say this set was the post disappointing Lego set I have ever bought.It was a complete waste of money.When I brought it home the day I got at Lego Land, I built it all with in three hours.And the part for getting out the landing pad was totally awesome.But after maybe the third time i brought the landing pad out,it broke.So,when i took it apart to see whats wrong,it turns out the piece that hold the rubber band broke.And believe me,it was a pain trying to fix it.So I some how fix it,but then the second time I take the landing pad out, it breaks again.So now I just have the broken ship on one of my tables. So I would definitely not advise people to buy this product.But it is fun to play with."

"This set is simply amazing. From the wheels of the mining vehicle to the handle you can use to hold the set, this thing provides hours of fun! It took me about four hours to build this complex model. the first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the suprising amount of special elements and the GIANT rear wing piece. The alien ships don't really do it for me, I will admit the there are many rare elements on the alien ships, but the builds and final products are rather boring. The human ship is, like most large sets, amazing. This ship is just glowing with weapons and lasers. As well as many rare elements and pieces. The two cockpits on the side detatch to become scout ships, leaving the "research" lab open to play with. Also, the small blue "button" is a neat contraption that releases the holder for the mining vehicle. Overall this set is a great addition to any Mars Mission collection at a decent price."

"I think that the MX-81 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft is brilliant. I bought it at a discounted price which made me want to get it even more. I would recommend this product to my friends. I like it that my bro has the ETX Alien Mothership Assault so I can use this ship to fight his.
Pros:
-Cool alien ship.
-Comes with good amount of minifigs.
-Nice little drill truck.
-Detachable ships.
-Cool alien commander.

-Repairing the ship if it breaks. (this is very unlikely but I ended up dropping it from the top of my bunk bed)"

"I can't say much that hasn't already been said in other reviews, so I'll keep it brief. This set is awesome. I'm an adult - I build LEGO as a hobby - but I couldn't stop myself from running around the room holding the two ships making engine and laser noises. It's one of the best LEGO space ships of all time, made even better by the fact that it's an homage to another of the best LEGO space ships of all time (the Deep Freeze Defender). Buy this set. Buy it if you're a kid. Buy it if you're an adult. Buy it if you've been lost on a desert island for decades and can't remember your age. It's a must have."

"Hi. I got this set yesterday, and I think it's simply AWESOME! It's huge, and Is very fun to play with, but I think the Alien Spaceship can have functions. First, we will see the Pros and Cons:

Overall, this set is awesome! I grant it a 4.9/5. I mean, the only con that makes sense is the lack of functions on the alien vehicle.

"I love this toy! The play experience is great. It is fun to mess with the plane. The main body has a handle made of Technic pieces which allows you to hold it. The lab inside is neat, but can not fit a minifigure. This plane has three small scout ships. The main two detach, and have great cockpits. Detailed! The last is a small satelite, which I prefer to use as an EMP cannon. Last of all, a platform will deploy from the back of the plane with the push of a button near the handle. It carries a mining vehicle. The alien ship is compact, sturdy, good looking, and neat. Its stickers are prismatic, making an etheral effect."

"This is the best set ever! I like like the MX-81 D and MX-81 E (air defence flyers). The MX-81 B satellite is also cool. THe set flyes with a Crystal-energized plasma boosters. The best part of the set is the MX-81 A lab section. The weapens on this ship are 14 Ionized cabalt ray guns, and 1 KRUNP-11 rocket launcher. I would recemend this set for lego lovers."

"I bought this set just yesterday. It was quite a bit but worth it since the command base isn't very good.
Pros:very large
perfect for a mobile base
Alien commander with a pretty nice ride
Cons:pricey

interior needs a little bit of tweaking to put a pilot for the whole thing inside
No see-through windsheild(not about the defense flyers)

"This set is cool, yes, but I just don't see anything extremely unique about it. It is fun though to play with the operations aircraft and pretend to do rescue missions with it, but there's really nothing extraordinary about it. I will concede that the alien ship is quite sleek."

"The MX-81 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft is cool looking, but incredibly fragile. The alien ship, on the other hand, is incredible in every way.

"This set is extremely cool and durable. I just moved recently and i had to pack it in a box. I got nervous because i thought it was going to break. But it didnt! They cool thing about the set is you can take the cockpits off and make them into different ships! over all great set i would really recommend this product"

"I think this is an excellent set. At the front are two little astro fighter things that come off. At the top there is a satellite. It even has a little mining unit. It also has an elevator for the mining unit to go on to get onto the aircraft, to the ground, but the ship is kinda pricey, but I think it's worth it."

"Before the pros cons list, I will first compare it to the the Armoured Drilling Unit. This was way bigger than the Armoured drilling unit, the permiter, at least, but its easier to build than ADU. It doesn't consist many technic bricks like the ADU, but still quite a few. The hardest part to build was to push those red pegs to lock the bricks up. But other than that, its about it. One more note this thing will make even the mothership scream ''mommy!''.
