"this is not the best sensor in the nxt kit and is hard to use. it does not really work as a color sensor, although i have tried to make it do that. i have never really used it that much except in my lego vending machine (on the NXTLog) but despite that i am happy i have it in my legos...But i would rather have a color sensor like in the 2.0 kit...oh well. :("

"Obviously if you have the NXT 1.0 set, you've got this Light Sensor. This device is the second light sensor of Lego's robotic kits (first was the RCX version). I personally feel that this Light Sensor is harder to use than the older RCX model. Though accuracy and reading values are essentially the same, the NXT Light Sensor is harder to mount and due to its bulky design and rounded edges, it is easy for ambient light to interfere with readings. I have found myself to use the RCX Light Sensor more often than this one. However, the NXT Light Sensor provides the capability to enable its bright red LED or disable it. Overall, if this is the only Light Sensor you can get your hands on, it works fine just note the bulky design."
I would recommend this to a friend!

"it is a great sensor, only buy it for nxt though. the light sensor can do many things such as: follow a line, make your robot stay away from walls, and detect reflected and normal light."
"It is always good to have this sensor so your robot could follow a line or draw on the ground. This sensor is a "must have" so your robots could be as intelligent as they can be!"
